The 2025 rebrand of what was previously called autonomous AI. Agentic is the newer word. The product behavior did not change.
Agentic implies an AI agent — a system with the capability to take action within an operational context. The architecture shipped by most platforms marketed as agentic is advisory: the agent produces outputs that humans act on.

An agent acts. A system that produces outputs for humans to act on is not an agent. It is a reporting tool with an opinion. If the agent requires human approval for every action, the agent is a user interface for the approval workflow. The approval is the action. The human is the agent.
// Why it matters
Operators evaluating agentic platforms should ask for a walkthrough of an action the agent has taken in production without human approval. The answer separates the category. A platform whose agent takes zero autonomous actions is not agentic. It is advisory wearing newer clothes.
